15 mile local ride

First ride on new bike, I didn't go far but it hurt! lol.
Incredibly, on this my 2nd ride on my new bike, I set a maximum speed of 44 mph that I haven't beaten since (too scared!).
I put my bike in the boot of my car & drove to Glasson Dock for a cycle ride, largely on a cycle path, around Glasson Dock & Lancaster.
Anyone who has ever been to Anglezark will know how steep the hill is near the viewing point at the top , it is a tough hill to climb on a bike even if your fit... & I wasn't! My heart rate reached 163 beats per minute.
Another bike in the boot of the car day.
I parked up in Windermere & rode to Grasmere via the main road, then chose the quieter route back to Windermere via the small road to the west (Red Bank), now that has a seriously steep & not exactly short, hill. I refuse to get off & walk any road hill, I might be going slow but I'll get up it!
Still far from fully fit I have to admit I had to stop 2 thirds of the way up, my heart rate was 171 beats per minute, another record that I haven't beaten since... nor do I wish to!
Edenfield is where I used to meet the other members of the cycling club, 34+ years ago, it seems strange that this used to be the starting point for a long ride to somewhere in Yorkshire..... today it is the limit of my ride.
Another car boot day.
It was really cold, I think I wore 5 layers & was still cold if I stopped moving!
Incredibly this was the 1st day it had rained when I was out cycling.
This was a really cold day, winter was starting to bite!
This was a great cycling day for December, really mild.
